My Favorite LUSH Products (REVIEW!)

(I’m using all of my favorite LUSH products in this makeup look!)

Hey guys–so I decided to post a review and list of all of my favorite LUSH cosmetics products. I made a video, but as we all know every time I try to make a YouTube video there’s always some sort of technical difficulty. Maybe this is a sign that I should just stick to writing!

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted a longer blog post, and I’m so sorry because I’ve been so incredibly busy and my life has been changing at lightning speed!

I have been trying out this new face makeup routine, and let me just say… I love it.

If you don’t know a lot about LUSH, let me just fill you in! Or, let them fill you in!

We Believe

…in making effective products from fresh organic* fruit and vegetables, the finest essential oils and safe synthetics.

We believe in buying ingredients only from companies that do not conduct or commission tests on animals and in testing our products on humans.

We invent our own products and fragrances. We make them fresh* by hand using little or no preservative or packaging, using only vegetarian ingredients and tell you when they were made.

We believe in happy people making happy soap, putting our faces on our products and making our mums proud.

We believe in long candlelit baths, sharing showers, massage, filling the world with perfume and the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again.

We believe our products are good value, that we should make a profit and that the customer is always right.

*We also believe words like “fresh” and “organic” have an honest meaning beyond marketing.

(From the LUSH Cosmetics website)

Essentially their products are handmade, fresh, and use all natural and organic ingredients. They do not test on animals and are vegan. And from my experience, amazing quality.

I had only tried their bath products (amazing), and only tried their makeup range very recently. And every product that I’ve tried from their makeup line so far… I have absolutely loved and adored.

I have to preface this review by saying that LUSH is not going to give you instagram-like, #thepowerofmakeup, ultra transformative makeup products that are super dramatic. At least, the ones I’ve tried.

I’ve read many reviews of LUSH makeup and I feel like it is unfair to have your own expectation of makeup and expect brands to automatically fit that mold. Especially when there are so many products and brands out there! Someone looking for an ultra HD high coverage foundation is not going to appreciate LUSH as much as someone who likes minimalistic makeup. And someone who likes minimal makeup is not going to love Kat Von D like someone who hates wearing face makeup!

Makeup is so personal, and instead of expecting every or any product to fit what we want, we should be searching for products that suit our needs! I feel like a lot of reviewers expect every single product to suit what they want, and to meet their expectation… and as individuals we all want different things. Not just in makeup, but anything and everything!

I want to make it clear that I’m not trying to bash heavier makeup or dramatic makeup! If you are an individual who wears makeup, however you please, and are confident, then you do you. I am just saying that not every product will be perfect for every person.

I like products that work. Products that are long lasting. And I’ve been trying to use more all natural cosmetics, so the fact that these are all natural AND work for me? Amazing.

Light Yellow Color Supplement

If you’re looking for extreme pigment, this is not it. This isn’t a dupe for Kevyn Aucoin’s sensual skin enhancer, which breaks me out, but is extremely thick and pigmented.

This product is creamy, but light and very blendable. It feels so nice and smooth on my face, and does not feel like a foundation or heavy face makeup!

It feels just like a moisturizer and after blended out it gives a light, natural coverage. I like it when my face’s natural flaws are still able to shine through, random specks and little freckles, so this is perfect for me! I find that my skin still can breathe and this is not heavy at all!

It gives the perfect natural face look, and is very light and natural! And I love how easy it is to blend and how you can lightly build this up!

I will admit that the shade names are a little weird to me–I don’t like the idea of my shade being called light yellow… it’s a little awkward. Also, there are only FOUR SHADES, and they definitely do not cover all ranges! I was just lucky that light yellow was an almost perfect match for me. Women of color will probably not find a shade match which is a little disappointing. Lush should really expand their color range… maybe rename them too!

Emotional Brilliance Translucent Face Powder

I normally hate face powders. Mostly because I want them to be translucent… and most of them are not freaking translucent! They are typically thick, and give off a white cast… which results in a chalky, thick, heavy, dusty ass look. And I am not a fan.

This powder is super finely milled. It goes on so smoothly and makes my face feel perfectly set and lightly matte. It definitely sets your makeup, and also absorbs any shine or oil! I have naturally oily skin and after hours and hours of wear my makeup did not fade and there was not even a bit of oil on my face!

It is truly translucent, and even though it feels light and you just need a small amount, it definitely packs a punch! It perfectly mattifies (but doesn’t dry) your face and sets your makeup beautifully. The finish is absolutely beautiful, as you can see in the pictures. This is the best powder I have ever used. And it is truly wonderful.

Eyes Right Mascara

I’ve reviewed this before…

“I love this mascara with all of my heart. It is all natural, great for my sensitive eyes, and gives it a subtle bit of oomph that it needs. It doesn’t flake, it is long lasting, and whenever I wash it off my lashes feel so soft and fresh! It doesn’t smudge, and completely exceeded my expectations.

It darks my lashes, and slightly lengthens and thickens them. And it is SO lightweight… I feel like I’m not even wearing mascara!”

Magical Moringa Face Moisturizer

Okay I was the most skeptical about this one. The awesome guys at LUSH gave me a sample of this moisturizer, because it apparently can also be used as a primer! I’m all for being a little lazy and effortless, and for products that are two in one!

One of them does drag makeup, and told me that his favorite primer was this LUSH moisturizer! He (yes this is the preferred pronoun) told me that it makes his makeup last through anything and everything!

I was a little bit skeptical, but I decided to test it out. As a face primer and an eye primer… and it works AMAZINGLY for both. I had a little faith for it as a face primer, but basically did not think it would work as an eye primer…boy was a I wrong.

First, as a face primer this feels amazingly even as a moisturizer, amazing. It goes in very smoothly and effortlessly. It melts into your face like butter hit is not oily. The moisturizer fills in any lines, pores, or unevenness and creates this amazingly smooth and lightly matte texture that is a perfect canvas for makeup. And as a primer… it works amazingly. My makeup stayed all day and was absolutely bulletproof it was not heavy, and truly was the perfect base.

Okay, as an eye primer I did not think this would work. But it did. Amazingly. It surpassed any expectations I had, and worked even better than the primer I used. The problem with a lot of eye primers is that they work a little too well, and as a result eyeshadow can stay a little too well to the kid… making it hard to blend out eyeshadows. Especially in th crease! This primer actually made is easier for me to blend out my shadows. The shadows blended effortless with this primer as a base, it probably was the easiest my eye shadows have ever blended–crease, lid, everywhere. I was so incredibly impressed. My eyeshadow did not crease or fade throughout the day… it stayed fully intact.

This is an amazing miracle product. Wonderful face and eye primer, and wonderful moisturizer.

Mint Julips Lip Scrub

This is your standard lip scrub. I have monster scale lips, Godzilla lips so to speak, and when they get dry… they get dry. They get gross dry where they peel and crack and look gross. And so, I definitely need to keep them moisturized!

I use my favorite all natural lip balm (Ecolips) after exfoliating with this lip scrub. It does a very good job of removing dead skin and making my lips soft and supple! You only need a tiny amount each time, and it is a winter staple for me.

I promise you I didn’t filter any of these pictures (lol I never do), my makeup just looks that nice! I love natural looking makeup, and this definitely is in that category! All of these products are quality, effective, and all natural products that have become staples in my makeup bag. I absolutely adore them and the finish and look they give!

My makeup stays all day and does not fade or slip! I truly do love all of these products and find them to be truly phenomenal. After all… I invested in them and declared my love in the internet! I think the finish on all of them is beautiful and the natural luminance is unbeatable.

Have you tried any LUSH products? How do you feel about all natural products?

    1. I was in the exact same boat until someone pointed them out, and I was kind of like “….does this even work…”

I’m still surprised LUSH does and all the products I’ve tried so far have been wonderful! I want to try more but they’re a little pricey… maybe I’ll just slowly build up my collection! I’m definitely intrigued by their liquid lipsticks though!

      Especially this bright pink!
