I know my food! And for those of you asking, I am going to post a guide to my favorite places and spaces in Chicago to grab food, sometime soon! I’ve been quite busy with the job hunt, and thinking of all the food there is really starting to make me miss Chicago…
Anyways, there’s this cute little tag circulating the internet of 25 Food Questions, and so I decided to give it a go!
1. What’s your favourite breakfast?
I don’t typically eat breakfast, but I absolutely adore brunch. I always get savory brunch! My favorite brunch is from Batter and Berries, and I always get their cheesy hash browns!
2. How do you drink your coffee?
Straight black, iced. That’s it!
3. What’s on your favourite sandwich?
I don’t eat bread or sandwiches very often, but my favorite is from this small suburban grocery store that sells fresh produce. They sell Cuban paninis that have cheese, ham, pickles, and this amazing mayo based sauce.
4. Soup or Salad?
I prefer soups but I love both. My favorite salad is a good Caesar. The best caesar salad I have ever had, in my entire life, is from Tavern at the Park.
5. What’s your favourite cookbook?
Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook, Cravings. I typically look at recipes off of Pinterest and then kind of get creative and do whatever I please!
6. No more sweets or no more hearty foods?
No more sweets…
7. What’s your favourite Cuisine?
Please don’t make me try to pick. I love all types of food!
8. What’s your favourite food movie?
9. What’s your most guilty pleasure?
You guys should know the answer to this if you read my blog… CHEESE FRIES!
Also flaming hot Cheetos!
10. What’s your greatest inspiration source?
Pinterest! Also Ina Garten and Chrissy Teigen. If they both had a cooking show together, I think I would die!
11. Cooking at home or going out for dinner?
It depends on who I have for company!
12. High end or low profile?
I think some of the best food is low profile, although I do love higher-end food at times. I find that local restaurants are the best, especially if they use fresh ingredients. But I do have a special appreciation for family-owned, or smaller restaurants.
13. What’s your favourite restaurant?
Oh boy. I think it’s Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba. Hands down. Or maybe Tavern at the Park. I just have so many favorites that I absolutely cannot pick!
Brunch: Batter and Berries, Davanti Enoteca
Lunch: Sultan’s Market, Vapiano, Del Seoul, Aloha Eats, Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Company
Dinner: Tavern at the Park, Mia Francesca, Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba!, Davanti Enoteca
Dessert: Jeni’s Ice Cream, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Molly’s Cupcakes
14. I do my grocery shopping at:
Jewel, Trader Joe’s, Target.
15. The tastiest food I’ve ever eaten was:
The pizza pot pie at Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder!
17. Coffee with George Clooney or Heston Blumenthal?
George Clooney–only for Amal!
18. What should not be missing in your kitchen?
I’m going to guess this means appliance. Besides oven, microwave, fridge, I would have to say a rice cooker or crock pot!
19. What is your favourite snack?
Jalapeno Skinny pop!
20. What’s on your pizza?
Mushrooms and olives!
21. What food do you really dislike?
Onions (except BK onion rings and french onion soup), tomato chunks, KETCHUP ON HOT DOGS (that’s a Chicagoan for you!), and I’m not a huge pork person.
22. What’s your favourite food blog?
Okay, confession…I don’t follow any food blogs religiously. I just look at random posts and recipes as I stumble upon them…if you know of any, please recommend them!
23. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
I’m Vietnamese. And a foodie.
Balut, fermented bean curd, frog’s legs, goat (birria), and a lot of other things that most would find weird or gross.
24. What’s on your food bucket list?
Croquembouche. A laduree macaron, a Momofuku Milk Bar crack pie, a hot chocolate from Serendipity, dinner at Blackbird, and so many other random marvelous things.
25. I couldn’t live without:
Cheese. I tried to be a vegan (which I’ve talked about on this blog), and failed. I am badly lactose intolerant, and still cheat for cheese!
BONUS question: If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
