I normally don’t post on Sundays, but I’ve been promising you guys a review of this brow pencil, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t feel a little guilty! I’m the type of person that gets super excited when I find new things that are awesome–I have this need to share it with the world! So, usually when I try new products and I love them, especially if they become my new holy grail or all-time favorite, I make a point to share it with all of you! Which is what I did, a few weeks ago!
However, I felt like this product truly deserved a full-on review, because eye brow products aren’t something you switch out frequently like lipsticks. I use the two same brow products every day, and I repurchase the same two brow products! Unless I find something fundamentally wrong with them.
I am pretty picky when it comes to makeup.
Okay, that’s a lie. I’m picky as hell.
I’m very particular about my products, and I believe that each person invests in makeup differently. For example, I honestly usually prefer higher-end eye shadow palettes, that’s just how I am! And I invest in my Benefit highlighter. BUT at the same time, I use a three dollar brow gel and my blush cost less than a latte.
When it comes to eye brow products, although I believe that eye brows frame the face and are important, I don’t find it worth my money to pay twenty dollars for an eyebrow pencil. That’s just how I am. I wanted an eyebrow pencil that was in my usual drugstore range, under ten dollars.
So, I bought the NYX micro brow pencil. And then, about a month and a half after I purchased the NYX micro brow pencil, it ran out. It ran out ridiculously quick, and I sat there in Jojo’s room, with only one eyebrow filled. I had to MacGyver my way into doing the rest of my eyebrows that day using eyeshadow. We were headed out to dinner, and I managed to get through dinner until I dragged her into the nearest Walgreens so I could buy something to fix my eyebrows.
I purchased the L’Oréal Brow Stylist Definer in Brunette, then fixed my eyebrows at Starbucks over a soy chai tea latte. And now, weeks and weeks later, I am still absolutely in love with this eyebrow pencil and will continue to keep buying it.
And no, I haven’t run out yet hahahaha. Not even close!
Small tips allow for you to draw fine strokes and fill in your brow naturally–it creates a natural look instead of something boxy or fake-looking. Plus as you fill in your eyebrows with a fine-tip, it allows for a natural kind of gradient and fill that makes the hairs look natural and not completely homogenous and monochromatic like a pomade would do.
This pencil is firm enough to do light strokes, but “soft” enough where it blends out wonderfully to create a natural brow look when brushed out with a spoolie.
Speaking of the spoolie, the one attached to this brush is high quality and actually works amazingly.
I find that my brows stay in place and that the pencil is incredibly long-lasting and pigmented. It’s so easy to use and honestly makes my eyebrows look phenomenal. The tip is very precise, and I love the final product every time I use this eyebrow pencil.
It’s supposed to be a dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz, which I can definitely see. I’ve sampled that brow pencil and the Benefit Goof Proof, and I have to say that this one is my favorite of all three. And it definitely trumps the NYX Micro Brow, which has a harder formula, isn’t as easy to blend, and isn’t as pigmented. Plus the spoolie on this one is better!
I highly recommend this, and suggest that if you’re in the market for a natural looking eyebrow pencil to pick this up! It is a high quality product at a really great price point! Get your brows on point!
It comes in dark brunette, brunette, and blonde. I use the brunette!
