My brother is a tech genius, who is always telling me that I need to upgrade. I used the same laptop through almost all of undergrad as he continually told me that I needed an upgrade. I was lugging around this giant pink behemoth to class and eventually it completely died on me, so I replaced it with a Lenovo.
I’ve had the same iPad 2 since 2013 and after using it continuously as it is on its last leg, my brother told me that I really just needed to upgrade. I knew that I wanted an iPad mini because the smaller size fits comfortably in my handbag and because it isn’t heavy or bulky. The fact that it’s about the size of a book is the most appealing feature about it, because I would primarily be using it to watch Netflix or Hulu, read ebooks, or write blog posts! The normal iPad size is just a little too big for me!
So, I decided to splurge and purchase an iPad mini 4 and a Kate Spade case.
It got me thinking about things to invest in, as you get older. I think that everyone has different things that they consider worthwhile investments, but here is my list of things that I find worth the (small) splurge!
A flattering haircut
Getting a good haircut is so important. I used to go to random places, and my hair was always uneven and kind of a mess. A good haircut is the basis for good hair, and getting the right cut is immensely flattering for not only your face, but how you style your clothes.
A good haircut can make all the difference, but it’s often overlooked! I’m not big on styling or doing my hair, but my hair still always looks good because I have a good haircut!
A long-lasting and durable water bottle
I’m serious! Through undergrad I would use the random water bottles I got for free from student center events. I purchased a Swell water bottle a few months ago and it has made all the difference!
My drinks are always cold and stay cold all day! It’s made me drink more water and made me stay more hydrated throughout the day. If you regularly drink water, which you should, investing in a good water bottle is a good choice.
A pigmented eyeshadow palette
Trust me, investing in a quality eyeshadow palette makes a huge difference! Pigmented shadows will make your eye makeup look infinitely better, and significantly more polished and professional. Eyeshadow palettes last for up to two years, so making the investment for a nice one will last you a very long time.
Well-crafted sunglasses
Instead of wearing a million cheap pairs of sunglasses, you can save your money and own one very nice pair. I recently picked up a pair from Kate Spade and they make all the difference! They’re tremendously well-crafted and accentuate every outfit that I pair them with. I absolutely love these sunglasses and think they are a worthwhile investment. They match with everything and are truly an investment piece.
Delicious cupcakes
I think you’ve graduated beyond the store-bought cupcakes! Don’t hesitate to buy a gourmet cupcake, every once in a while!
I hope you all enjoyed this post! This is definitely not the whole list, but it’s things that I’ve invested in recently! I’m sure there’s a lot of things we should be investing in.
What do you think is a worthwhile investment?
Cute list of necessary items! Totally agree with the haircut for sure!

I totally agree about the water bottle!!! I recently invested in a nice (but pricey!) new one, and I couldn’t be happier. I actually think I drink more water throughout the day because of it! For me, another splurge item is nice jewelry. I used to buy only cheap jewelry, but then I’d always have to throw it away within six months because it would turn green! So now I own very few pieces, but they are all true white gold or rose gold.

The water bottle is definitely a necessary thing to splurge on a bit! It sounds so silly but it definitely makes a difference! And I agree completely with you on the jewelry, I think quality over quantity matters when it comes to jewelry!

I agree with the water bottle as well! I try to be eco-friendly so bringing a reusable water bottle to school and work has been helpful.
I also think it’s worth investing in a nice purse or watch. The splurge might be expensive and heartbreaking at first but it’s well worth it if you use the item enough! Like my Michael Kors watch. I cried a little on the inside when I bought it but I wear it every single day. It’s been 2 years and I still get compliments on it! x

I agree completely with the handbag or watch! I don’t typically wear a watch, but I only use the few Kate Spade bags that I’ve splurged on!

It’s definitely a season/mood related decision whenever I switch mine out.
