My Favorite 2017 Oscars Looks

Last night while watching The Oscars, I asked all of you (on Twitter) what kind of blog post you wanted! You all told me that you wanted to see an Oscars fashion post… and here it is!

So, here is a round-up of my favorite looks from The Oscars!

Janelle Monae wore this gorgeous and intricate black, gold, silver and white  Elie Saab gown last night. Everything, from the subtle headpiece to her glowy makeup looks absolutely perfect. She looks literally like a modern-day version of an edgy rocker queen, and I love the beading in the front of her gown. She looks absolutely gorgeous!

Cynthia Erivo wore this gorgeous floral embroidered dress last night, and completely rocked it! It’s a perfect example of wearing florals and lace in an elegant, but contemporary way. I love the details of this dress, including the little, peek of lace along the top. I don’t normally like single spaghetti strap gowns, but this one is undeniably unique and absolutely beautiful.

Ruth Negga wore this beautiful red Valentino gown last night and was a total stunner. I love how her lipstick perfectly matches her dress, and how she placed a very visible blue ribbon for ACLU. This gorgeous floor sweeping gown with race lace accenting is just simply lovely.

Hailee Steinfeld wore this pretty pastel Ralph & Russo dress last night, which is dazzling with its coloring and floral design. I think that this dress gives off major princess vibes and is just so girly and pretty. She matched it with a pretty pink nude lip, and everything paired together perfectly.

Okay, can I look as good as Taraji P. Hensen when I’m her age? She is wearing a custom-made navy gown from Alberta Ferretti, and absolutely killing it. Everything from this classic but edgy dress to the accessories and makeup is absolutely spectacular. She looks absolutely amazing, and this look is definitely a winner!

Naomie Harris looks absolutely beautiful in this Calvin Klein ensemble. She looks elegant and chic, but also very trendy and fresh. I love the crisp white sequin dress and how well it looks on her, and how it’s paired with perfectly clashing heeled sandals. Her hair and makeup continue this fresh, but chic look, and I really like the simple cut-out on her dress!

Auli’i Cravalho wore this gorgeous Rubin Singer gown for her first Oscars! She gives off a very old Hollywood glam with her hair, and I absolutely adore the gold accenting and pleating on this pretty white gown. The accenting and usage of texture are really what elevates this white gown to the next level!

These are all by far my favorite looks from last night, but if I was to wear one of them it would have to be that gorgeous floral gown that Cynthia Erivo wore last night. I think it is the perfect mix of elegance and whimsy. I absolutely love the intricate floral embroidery on the gown, and the boldness it provides against the sophisticated black lace fabric. It is truly a stunning gown, and she wore it beautifully. My second favorite would have to be Naomie Harris’ look, tied with Ruth Negga’s.

I think if you were to ask me a few years ago, I would have jumped to Hailee Steinfeld or Auli’i Cravalho’s dress in an instant. They both looked like literal princesses. But my style has definitely changed a lot recently to become a bit more refined and elegant, as I’m getting older and a young working professional (don’t even get me started on what I purged from my closet after I graduated!).

These were my favorite looks from the Oscars last night! It definitely was a hard choice to make, as there were so many gorgeous looks to choose from!

      1. It’s gorgeous! I think the next wedding or big event I attend, I’m gonna look for something similar. Not as glam, but I love the lace and florals.

  2. I think Ruth Negga stole the show with that striking red Valentino gown. I really love how high the neckline was – I think that is such a bold choice, and she pulled it off effortlessly. Her lip color also complimented the dress perfectly!
