The Current Sass (Weekly Favorites), Volume 3

Hey y’all! So, as you all know I post a weekly favorites post called The Current Sass. I’ve decided that from now on, these posts will be on Friday! It just makes more sense and seems like the perfect way to kick off Fridays!

Anyways, let’s get started!

I redesigned the blog, and I am absolutely obsessed with the new design! It’s chic, streamlined, clean and sleek! I’m in love.

It also took a ton of time.

If you have not seen Get Out, I strongly urge you to! It is an AMAZING film that is incredibly thought provoking and phenomenal. It will truly make you re-examine race relations, racism, and our society. I highly recommend this film and think that Jordan Peele did a great job!

It is his directorial debut; I only knew him from Key & Peele before this so I came in expecting his usual sense of humor, but this is a thriller. It’s so good. Please, go see it.

Portillo’s cheese fries are always a good idea. They are my favorite guilty pleasure food and the absolute best cheese fries I have ever had in my life.

There is just something incredibly nostalgic about cheese fries from Portillo’s Hot Dogs. Also, these are the only crinkle-cut fries that I’ll ever eat!

My iPad mini came in last week, and I’m still in love. I’ve been trying a lot of new apps and really enjoying the upgrade! I reviewed it in a previous blog post, but long story short–I absolutely adore iPad mini and am so glad that I made the purchase! It’s a sleek, lightweight, and phenomenal tablet that is extremely versatile and durable.

Also, for those of you asking on Twitter and Instagram, my case is Kate Spade! I’m a fan of the floral print, plus all of the Kate Spade products I own are always high-quality and durable!

As you all know, there are some products that I prefer to use all-natural versions of! Lip balm is one of them. I gave my EcoLips to my brother during my trip to Dallas because he desperately needed one and found myself needing one for myself! I couldn’t find EcoLips ANYWHERE in Dallas, so I purchased a Burt’s Bees lip balm! I purchased the grapefruit flavor and I’m really enjoying it. It isn’t heavy or excessively waxy and goes smoothly on the lips!

I have been saving these lipstick blister pack samples for a while, as they are incredibly messy to use! I’m thinking of de-potting them and making custom lip palettes that I can label.

Have any of you guys tried something like this? How do you use or store your blister packs? Be sure to tell me in the comments because I would love to hear ideas from you all!

I tried the ELF Cosmetics Intense Ink eyeliner and I really love it! It’s pigmented, easy to use, and goes on smoothly. I don’t like spending a lot of money on liquid liner pens since I find that the high-end ones generally work the same as the inexpensive ones. This one reminds me a lot of the Marc Jacobs liquid liner pen! Although the pen itself is thick, the tip is super precise. I find that the large base makes it easier to hold and use.

If you need a phenomenal matte eyeshadow palette on a budget, the ELF Cosmetics Endless Eyes palette is worth every penny! I reviewed it earlier this week and it is just spectacular. This palette has pigmented, smooth, and buttery shadows that blend like a dream!

Okay, I have a confession to make… much like other people in America, The Bachelor is one of my guilty pleasure shows. I just can’t stop watching it! My favorite this season is Rachel, and I am so glad that she doesn’t end up with Nick and is the next Bachelorette! She’s incredibly kind and intelligent.

As you all know, I have a science-y side to me. I get news updates from Twitter for a lot of interests I have, but I found that getting updates about science or health harder than other interests! This Twitter is one of my favorites as it seamlessly updates my feed with the newest updates and articles!

With my new iPad mini, it’s become so much easier for me to read ebooks and articles! My old iPad 2 was heavy, huge and clunky so I didn’t really read digital content on it. Favorites for this week are ebooks; I am currently re-reading Mindy Kaling’s book, Why Not Me?

Anyways, these are my favorites for the week! Do you guys like these posts? I think they’re more casual and fun, and I can share all sorts of favorites with you all that aren’t limited to one category! Have a wonderful weekend!

What are your favorites for this week?
