When I graduated and decided that I would apply for jobs nationwide, I think I shocked a lot of my friends. I love Chicago. I think it is the greatest city in the world but I’m still young and there are so many places I want to live and see. I think I’ll eventually wind up back in Chicago, living in a Lincoln Park brownstone but I don’t see that happening for quite a long time. I’m definitely ready for the adventure and for a change of setting… so we’ll see where the universe takes me.
I’ve been thinking of traveling recently. If there’s one thing I regret not doing in undergrad, it is studying abroad. I’ve taken six years of Spanish and I know how to speak Vietnamese! (I know very basic French, but it’s not resume-worthy). My counselor actually told me that I should study abroad, instead of graduating early. We all know which one I picked.
When you graduate college, you get this overwhelming feeling that you truly can go anywhere. I’m not lying. It was like one day I was perfectly content with my little Chicago bubble and then suddenly I realized that there is a whole entire world out there waiting to be explored.
So, I made that bucket list that I shared with all of you. And I’ve been thinking of crossing one of those items off and maybe making the travel. There are a few places in particular that I definitely want to go to..
(By the way, all of these images were found on Pinterest! If you know the original source, please comment or message me so I can properly credit them!)
#1- See the sunset in Santorini
I have always dreamed of watching the sunset in Santorini. It looks like an absolutely beautiful little island and I have always wanted to go. I think the first time that I would see the sun set, I’d just sit there in silence and awe, and then in the last few minutes, I would realize that I need to take a picture for my blog. I’m just that kind of person.
You know how girls dream of being proposed to at the Eiffel Tower? I want to be proposed to during sunset overlooking Santorini. That is the ONE cheesy thing about me so you guys can’t tell anyone ever.
#8- Drink wine in Italy
#15- Ride a gondola
Italy is undeniably breathtaking. I have had a lot of friends study abroad in Italy and I’m envious. I would love to sit in a gondola and go around the city to see all of the breathtaking buildings and scenes. I couldn’t limit myself to one city, I would want to go to Venice, Verona, and Florence!
#5- Go to Paris
Okay, this might sound bad. I know it’s the city of love… but I want to go to Paris alone. Or with a friend! No romantic interest.
Because I lowkey want the Blair Waldorf Parisian experience of going to see all the sights, eating macarons on a bench, examining all the artwork, and strolling down the Seine. I want to window shop and to walk around with no makeup except for dark liner and red lipstick. I want to experience the sights and fall in love with the city…not someone.
#38- Go to Australia
My cousin studied abroad in Australia and he told me that it was one of the most beautiful places that he’s ever been to. I don’t doubt that at all.
Australia just looks undeniably diverse. The wildlife, the landscape, and the scenery are just a sight to behold! I want to run around on the beaches, hike through the forest, dive off a cliff… okay maybe not the last one because I can’t swim. But my point is, I want to experience Australia.
#44- See the Brussels flower garden
Okay, when I was fifteen I did a project for AP European History on Belgium and told myself that I would go there someday. I want to see the lush flower garden and eat their Belgian fries! And I want to experience the sights that I wrote about in my report, and experience everything that Belgium has to offer!
I hope you all enjoyed this post! It was definitely hard to pick five out of all the things on my bucket list but I’m extra excited about these five things.
Where would you like to travel?
Those are certainly very nice destinations. I have Australia missing but have been to all the other ones. They are all charming in their way.
Where I would like to go to? I’d love to travel to Iran some day. I hope politics calm down a bit and it will be smoother for foreigners to visit.

Iran would be a beautiful place to visit, once it has a less turbulent surrounding. Thanks for sharing, and have a great week!

Rome and Barcelona would be AMAZING! I am obsessed with the idea of going to see the sunset in Santorini. As for Paris, I think I’ll be heading there when I have a little break next summer during grad school!
