Happy International Women’s Day, everyone! Especially during times like these, it is so important to have days like today where we celebrate women and their significant contributions!
According to the International Women’s Day website,
“International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.”
This year’s theme is to #BeBoldForChange which is increasingly important because it seems like Women’s rights are slowly being reduced by each passing day with the presidency. It is significant for us to celebrate the women in our lives and their achievements, but it is also important to think of the women of the future (future students, daughters, etc) and how we genuinely have to make a change for ourselves and them.
I always think of my future daughter and how I want her to grow up without the terribly sexist experiences that I’ve had. We need to think about future generations s0 they don’t have to overcome what we all have.
So this International Women’s Day, as we celebrate women all around the globe, don’t forget that we have to persist and make changes for each other and our future women.
