There will be TWO fashion posts this week… on Thursday I’ll have one all about shoes! But today, I have an outfit post. But before that, I wanted to give a little life update.
There is… a lot going on. A lot going on with applying for programs and school and a lot going on personally. I’m definitely trying to stay positive and to hope for the absolute best. I’m hoping for good vibes in my vicinity and that things will work out!
Although I’m pretty darn stressed, I find that blogging has always been a solace for me and that it helps to write. Even if it’s not about what I’m stressing about! I feel like my patience has been really, really tested.
I recently have been making little changes to my wardrobe. After Mom Sass and I purged my closet I made a mental note to purchase clothing that was more along the line of capsule/investment pieces. Slowly but surely, some old favorites are being replaced by their refined, chic, and elevated counterparts.
Like this crochet crop top I wore all the time in undergrad:
The loose knit layered on top of a cami always made this top a little flirtatious, especially when paired with ankle booties and jeggings (by the way… that first photo is from The Best Date I’ve Ever Been on, and I wore that exact outfit!)
I was in Marshall’s (Marshall’s, Dillard’s, TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack are all places to find investment pieces that are less expensive and high quality!) and saw this gorgeous crochet top. The knit is definitely more delicate and it came with an extra layer and undershirt which made it less undergrad and more so young working professional.
It is a 3/4 sleeve top and is honestly, chic yet feminine. I love how “girly” and cute it is, although it’s definitely elevated from the typical crochet knit top. It’s delicate yet refined. The design of the crochet is so detailed and it’s a unique and well-made piece. I think it’ll look great with skirts, shorts, and other bottoms that I have! And I love how it fits perfectly.
I paired it with some hunter green pants, my Christian Siriano flats with gold detailing and leather accenting, and of course my favorite purse for spring.
I purchased this Kate Spade crossbody a year ago and the bright green background contrasting the old florals makes it the perfect bag for spring. It’s the perfect pop of color and brightens up any outfit.
I think the elevated crochet knit paired with the bright florals make for a casual, fun and chill outfit for spring. I think a lot of people think you can’t wear florals or feminine components like lace or crochet without looking too “youthful” but I think this is the perfect mix of chic and cute.
This top is one of those investment pieces that is so versatile and necessary in my wardrobe so I’m incredibly glad that I picked it up and I can’t wait to find new ways to style it.
Like I said, I’ve been going through my wardrobe and tweaking my style a little bit to reflect my personal growth and transitions in my life (from a college student to a young working professional…and eventual (hopefully) grad student). I’ve been thinking about writing a few style pieces about the process and certain things I’ve upgraded, purchased, re-styled, or tossed! Would you guys be interested in that?
