25 Before 25

Hey guys!

I had already made a bucket list post a little while ago, but I decided that I wanted a “list” that was a little bit more pressing. I’m turning twenty-two in August and the fact that I’m nearing 1/4 of my life has hit me. I’ll be twenty-five in a few years and there are quite a few things I want to do in the next few years.

A twenty-five before twenty-five list is a pretty common blog post idea (so are bucket lists) so I decided that I would share mine. I’ll definitely combine both and turn them into a page that I can cross off and keep track of on the blog! But anyways, here’s….

Twenty-five things I want to do before I turn twenty-five

  1. Take a spontaneous solo trip, all by myself. (I have always wanted to do this!)
  2. Write the (e)book of short stories/essays that I’ve always wanted to write. (It’ll probably be a short one… but who knows!)
  3. Run a 5k. (So many people tell me I can’t… and I will).
  4. Perfect a recipe for Chicago-style cheese fries. (My all-time favorite food!)
  5. Live somewhere other than Chicago (or Illinois). (This one is self-explanatory)
  6. Learn how to code. (Something I always always wanted to do and many have said I cannot).
  7. Get a MacBook. (I have always wanted one!)
  8. Fall in love. (It doesn’t have to be with a person, it can be a passion or a hobby).
  9. Eat at a Michelin rated restaurant. (The ultimate foodie bucket list!)
  10. Take a class for something fun. (like cooking, pottery, dance…something!)
  11. Graduate from graduate school. (I can’t wait!)
  12. Go on a helicopter ride. (But not like the one in Master of None).
  13. Go on a trip to Vietnam, again. (I have always wanted to go back!)
  14. Go on a backpacking trip through Europe. (My friend Kevin went for two weeks after he graduated from medical school and it looked so fun!)
  15. Have a phenomenal clinical year. (And not a Grey’s Anatomy drama-filled one).
  16. Perfect a recipe my grandmother taught me to make. (Vietnamese cooking is so out of my element).
  17. Watch the sun rise. (If I can get up).
  18. Build my career. (Of course, this has to be on the list!)
  19. Throw an adult, drama-free, unforgettable Friendsgiving dinner party. (don’t ask about the previous ones).
  20. Have a beach bonfire. (Something straight out of the movies).
  21. Give up drinking soda. (I’ve tried so many times before!)
  22. Take care of a plant without it dying. (In undergrad my boyfriend at the time left me with two cacti when he went to Mexico and I accidentally killed both).
  23. Learn how to parallel park. (I am so serious about this one).
  24. Go to a place (coffee shop or something) so often that I’m considered a “regular” and they know my order. (Supporting local businesses and Bucket List dreams!)
  25. Watch my blog continue to grow into something special. (You didn’t think I could go through this list without something blog-related, did you?)

“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”

-Thomas A. Edison

(PS, I am turning 22 soon!)

What are some things you want to do in the next three years? What are your x before x? Or some things on your bucket list?

    1. Hi Pearl! There’s so much I wanna do beyond the list too… but I’m definitely excited for all of it. I think when it comes to adventure and life, you gotta seek adventure and really live (and love) your life!

  3. Wow this is a brilliant list, I really hope you tick them all off! 🙂 If it helps motivate you, I was addicted pretty much to diet coke but then I got a kidney stone (mega ouch!) and had to give it up and it really wasn’t as bad as I thought haha. I just drink sparkling flavoured water now which is still kind of fun? 🙂

  4. Brilliant post! A great idea to make a list! I would love to do a solo trip too! And run 5km. My friend has asked me to do a 5 mile charity run; 8.04 km so I really need to get training haha! Your photos are fab too!

  5. Great little bucket list you have here – totally believe you’ll achieve it all! I wanted a macbook for the LONGEST time too girl, I finally took the plunge & invested in it for my first year of college, best thing ever! I’m so obsessed with it, and it comes into good use with my blogging 😉 I recommend the Macbook Air if you ever get one! x

    1. My air is actually coming in the mail today hahahaha, that was one thing I couldn’t resist checking off soon! What apps/programs do you have or recommend?

  6. Great post! I thought of doing the same but I turn 25 in September so … maybe i’ll make my mental list for 27.5 to give myself some time haha. Have always wanted to do a spontaneous solo trip too! Japan and Korea have been on my mind … maybe 2018 😬.

  7. I LOVE posts like this! I’m always so interested to see what people want to achieve before a certain age. I did make one once but I realised a lot of them were quite unachievable so I don’t look at it anymore haha! These are some great goals ❤ xxx

  8. I used to be terrible at parallel parking. And then, I moved to a college town. I turned into a serious pro with my car. I can get an inch away from bumping the other car. I would suggest you practice on a non busy street. Less pressure that way.
