When I first made this blog, I was twenty years old and decently far into my college career. I was working as a development assistant at the first non-profit I had ever worked for, and I was navigating dating in college and living in the busy city of Chicago. But today, I’m twenty two. I’m twenty two and a marketing coordinator at the third non-profit I’ve ever worked for. And even though I’m still Chrissey, a lot has changed.
Instead of worrying about whether or not I’m going to miss the L to class or what I’m going to wear on my next date, I think about how I’m a young working professional. I think about how I’m a young ethnic woman working hard to make a name for myself and to do my very best work (which people will recognize me for one day instead of the fact I’m super young and super ethnic).
I’m facing new challenges, new battles and having completely new experiences.
But the thing is, regardless of the big changes, one thing that’ll stay the same is that I’ll be sharing things on this blog.
So even though I won’t be sharing pictures of my frozen Whole Foods samosas and tips on how to dress for an internship interview, I promise that things I will always keep it real.
And honestly, I’m excited for how things are going to change. I want to write about what it’s like being a young woman in a male-dominated industry, what I wear to work on the regular, and easy makeup that lasts all day. How to balance work and life, and what it’s like to try to lean in professionally.
Instead of running around campus in cardigans, I’m running around to meetings in blazers. And so, because I felt like my life was transitioning, I felt like my blog needed a change too.
So, although I’m still redesigning, I changed up my layout… and I really love this change.
Anyways, I’ve definitely missed blogging and I’m eager to get back at it… and of course, to write about all sorts of different things! It’s been a while since I’ve posted content and I feel eager and ready to get back on my regular schedule. I know that I’ve been a little MIA… but with the changes that I’ve talked about and starting my new job, it’s definitely been necessary to take a little break!
So, I’m excited, I’m ready, and I can’t wait. I’ll see you all Thursday.
