The Best Lipstick Ever

I am admittedly a lipstick junkie. When it comes to lipsticks I have way more than I could ever possibly need and that obsession was what really kick-started my interest in makeup. I started wearing makeup the summer before my sophomore year of college and went from owning five lipsticks to twenty. Literally, I could not stop getting lipsticks and was absolutely obsessed. I went from wearing the same lipstick everywhere to changing my lipstick for each and every occasion. That began to slow down as I got older and I've noticed that in recent months I pretty much only wear one lipstick. It's my all-time favorite lipstick and has been since I purchased it last November during Black Friday. You guys are always asking me what shade it is and it's honestly the perfect color. My all-time favorite, ride or die lipstick is Tom Ford's Richard. I made the splurge last November during Black Friday and I have never found another lipstick that I love more. (I wanted to include a photo with the …

Makeup Products I DON’T Use

In some ways, I am a little bit predictable when it comes to my makeup. And in other ways, I’m a little bit unexpected. Although I am always sharing with you guys new products and loves that I discover, there are actually quite a few makeup products that I do not use. A common misconception is that beauty bloggers have to wear a full face or to use every single product imaginable, but that definitely is not the case! So today, I decided  to share with you guys the products I don’t use… and of course the reason I don’t use them! Everyone’s makeup routine is different and some people don’t use products that I do! And vice versa. But I thought this would be a fun little post! Makeup Primer- I religiously wear eyeshadow primer but I have not touched a makeup primer in over a year. Makeup primers tend to make my skin really oily and actually make my foundation slip and slide! I just apply moisturizer in the mornings and make sure …

The Unabridged Sass….MAGAZINE??

I just want to say that first of all, this isn’t going to be a regular feature. I was brainstorming new blog post ideas and I thought of doing a “get to know you post” which led to the questionnaire inspired by generic female magazines. And if you guys know me, you know that every project I do ends up getting elevated to a crazy level…which led to the creation of this little magazine. Although some things in here are a very real parody of female magazines (like my sassy items list and the ridiculous quiz at the end), my answers to the cosmos-inspired questionnaire are very much real. This was definitely a fun post and mini-project to do, and not only did I get to use my high school editor-in-chief (bet you didn’t know that about me!) skills, but I hope this gives you guys a laugh! Enjoy! – – “There’s power in looking silly and not caring that you do.” -Amy Poehler – Okay, seriously, what did you guys think? Did you like …

Products I Won’t Buy (Anti-Haul!)

I wanted to do a beauty post but felt like it was a little too late for a favorites post (to be honest, the only new products I’ve been using are body products, so I will do a post on those eventually). I haven’t been tempted to buy any new products recently… new launches haven’t really been “speaking” to me. A lot of bloggers have been sharing their “anti-hauls” recently and I think it’s such a fun idea! Kimberly Clark started this trend a while ago, but I felt like with all the ~brand new summer launches~ now would be a great time to help you guys save some change, and to share with you the products that I’m not going to buy. By the way, I think you guys know that I’m not fond of (and don’t support) certain brands because of their business practices, beliefs, and philosophies. Some makeup brands adhere to certain ideals that I personally do not support. I didn’t want to beat a dead horse and to be negative on …

My Hair Transformation

My hair, before this whole adventure. My cousin William is a hair guru. I don’t know how he does it but he can make any hair go from zero to 100. So, when he suggested a fun Friday project of giving me some highlights, I eagerly agreed. I’m not a professional, so I’m not going to tell you guys to go ahead and do this at home expecting phenomenal results… I’m actually usually against doing any hair DIYS, but if you’re curious as to how he did it, here you go: He parted my hair into sections and selected shoelace sized sections to coat evenly with hair dye. He then would fold and cover about 3 shoelace sections into hair foil. William did this for all the sections, but was particularly careful when it came to the upper layers of my hair. Because I have black-brown hair, the red hair dye I used ended up appearing more muted and red-brown. The color ended up being perfect and I was so happy with the results! Because …

Personalizing My Macbook Air

My Macbook came last week but I refrained from blogging about it too much until all of my side-investment pieces came in too (aka the decals and the accessories). I have wanted a Macbook forever, but decided to get one before I started graduate school. However, to be honest, I wish that I had gotten my Macbook sooner because this would have been absolutely phenomenal to have during undergrad. My younger brother actually formatted and upgraded it before I got my hands on it, as a favor, so I got a little surprise when it finally arrived at my door…. That’s my brother for you. As I learned from my iPad review, I’m not very good at writing about technology, so I will leave it to the experts. However, if you decide to get one, it is well worth the money. I use both my iPad and my Macbook, but for different reasons and processes. I have been thinking of writing a post about what I use each for (when it comes to life and …

My Most Requested Makeup Tutorial

I posted a few Snapchats the over the weekend and a bunch of you guys asked me for the details behind the makeup look. It’s so simple but somehow my most requested makeup look! I paired my current favorite: a simple but pretty matte makeup look, with a half french braid fishtail combo. It’s honestly super easy to do, and I would feel guilty if I took credit for it! But I’ll explain it below, after sharing my little matte makeup tutorial. I had been looking at various small, but simple matte eyeshadow palettes but struggled to find one that fit me well. One of the biggest makeup lessons I had to learn was how to properly identify my coloring and to buy products that suit me. Cool-toned eyeshadow palettes are significantly more flattering on me and there aren’t too many out there! I picked up the Physicians Formula Matte Quad in Canyon Classics. It”s the perfect matte, neutral cool-toned eyeshadow palette. The palette is pigmented and the shadows are buttery smooth. They blend like a dream …
